All our classes are unique, teaching a combination of styles. Depending on your dancers age they will be trained in various styles such as:
Acrobatics is the art of slow controlled movements using the flexibility of the back, legs and shoulders. It is one of the performing arts and involves difficult feats of balance, agility and coordination. Gymnastics is the sport of power tumbling executed by a straight back using strength and speed. Emphasis will be placed on developing fundamental acrobatic technique, teaching skills such as: handstands, chin stands, elbow stands, cartwheels, back bends, walkovers, and contortion tricks.
Hip Hop Movements are sharp and danced to a precise beat! It is a high energy, athletic, popular dance style with break dancing. We infuse the latest styles of street dancing, breaking, popping, and locking. Students will be encouraged to step outside the box by bringing their own individual style and personality to the movements.
Ballet is the foundation of all dance. It is a highly technical form of dance with its own vocabulary. It is best known in the form of classical, but can additionally include neoclassical and contemporary ballet. Dancers learn grace, poise and agility with barre, center floor. We will use terminology in French, correct body alignment, how to improve their natural turn-out and develop a love for the most graceful living art.
Jazz combines ballet technique with an emphasis on spunky performance quality and exciting, large movements like leaps and high kicks. It uses fun upbeat music to compliment the sassy and character movements. It can been seen in many forms like musical theatre, character, with complex rhythms and patterns.
Lyrical is a fusion of ballet and jazz techniques. It challenges dancers to use emotion to interpret music and express the meaning of music while telling a story through every movement made. Emphasize one’s interpretation of music lyrics while telling a story with movement that can be fluid or abstract. Students will take the slow fluidity of ballet and combine it with the turns and leaps of jazz.
Contemporary is a style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz, lyrical and classical ballet. Dancers in this genre strive to connect the mind and the body through fluid dance movements. Students will learn to use their bodies in a variety of ways. Traditional modern dance, release techniques and intense athleticism are combined to attain a grounded sense of freedom within the body.
